A Little About the Pastor . . .
My wife's name is Sherry and we have three children. Our children are all grown and we have many grandchildren and great grandchildren. My wife and I are both born and raised Oklahomans and have been involved in Christian ministry for most of our lives. We grew up in Tulsa and I have served as Pastor of several churches in this area and throughout Oklahoma.
My Goal as a Minister. . .
"The concept of my ministry is simple. It is be where God wants me to be and do what He wants me to do."
As a preacher I have always tried to be obedient to the leadership of the Holy Spirit and allow God to set the pace for my ministry. He is the One I seek to glorify, for He is the Only One worthy of glory! In the practice of my ministry, I attempt to be available to serve the Lord and His people. I realize only God can give true wisdom and spiritual strength. Also, I seek to always be open to the opportunities that the Lord provides, in reaching our complex and hurting world, with the Good News of Jesus Christ!
My name is Stephen Mitchell and my wife's name is Rachel. We have two wonderful children, Noah who is 7 and Asher who is 4. We were called to Beaver Street Baptist Church in April of 2014. Before becoming our church secretary in 2007, Pat Haney has been enjoying sharing the love of Jesus with children of all ages. She feels they should have an opportunity to learn about our Savior when they come to church. Pat began working with our Childrens Ministry in 1990 .
As a life-long resident of Jenks, OK her background brings a variety of experiences, exuberance and great expectations of seeing children grow and develop into Christ followers. Pat passionately believes that ministering to children is a partnership with parents to be the "hands and feet" of Christ for a child. She desires to see others work and grow together in the community of faith to care, serve, and love all children. She believes "playing" in the name of Jesus is some of the most rewarding, and most challenging work you can do in the community of faith.
Pat has been married to her husband, Scott, for 34 years. They have four sons. Their eldest son, Dan and his wife, Renata, live in the Tulsa area and have one son and one daughter. Their son, Jon, is a graduate of OSU-IT, and son, Mike is a student at OSU-IT and Paul is a graduate of Jenks Public Schools.
